Hans J. Wegner GE 240 “Cigarren” Armchairs, Pair for Getama, Denmark

A pair of GE 240 “Cigarren” armchairs designed by Danish designer Hans J. Wegner and produced by Getama in Gedsted, Denmark. Dating from the 1950s–1960s design period, the chairs are distinguished by the rounded armrests that give the model its characteristic nickname.

The GE 240 has the generous proportions and relaxed seating position associated with Wegner's upholstered lounge chairs. A solid oak frame supports the loose upholstered cushions, creating a comfortable chair with a simple, balanced construction.
