Andreas Engesvik Tiki Brown Sofa for Fogia, Sweden

The Tiki sofa was designed by Norwegian designer Andreas Engesvik for Fogia in 2014. With its soft, rounded silhouette and generous proportions, the Tiki combines a relaxed appearance with a strong focus on comfort.

The sofa is upholstered in brown semi-aniline leather and supported by a black lacquered metal base. Its frame combines steel tube, solid beech, and plywood, with Nozag spring suspension. The seat cushions are constructed with highly resilient foam, down, and cut polyether, while the back cushions feature siliconized crimped fiber.

The design takes inspiration from Kon-Tiki, the famous raft sailed by Thor Heyerdahl to Polynesia in 1947. The shape of the back cushion and armrests echoes the form of a sail filled with wind, giving the sofa its distinctive, soft profile.

The softness of the Tiki is intentional to the design and means that the upper line and silhouette can naturally change slightly over time with use. The brown semi-aniline leather is also a natural material, with variations in color and texture that will continue to develop into a deeper patina.

Designed by Andreas Engesvik and produced by Fogia in Poland, the Tiki remains a distinctive example of contemporary Scandinavian furniture.
